Electronic Auction System to Bring Competition and Transparency in Timber Auctions

Raipur chhattisgarh VISHESH Union Minister Shri Bhupendra Yadav and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the Electronic Auction System in Chhattisgarh at Aranya Bhawan in Nava Raipur today On this occasion, the state-of-the-art auditorium Dandakaranya’ built by the Forest Department at a cost of two crores was also inaugurated.

The Electronic Auction System will bring competition and transparency in the auction of timber in various timber depots of the Forest Department. Through this system, the auction process will be done through MSTC, and the payment process will become quick and transparent for both the government and the bidders, leading to an increase in state revenue.

Notably, in Chhattisgarh, various types of timber, including construction timber, logs, commercial bamboo, and firewood, are auctioned in different timber depots. There are 27 sales depots operating in the state. Earlier, the payment process involved a lot of paperwork and record-keeping, but with the launch of the Electronic Auction System, this will be eliminated.

The newly built auditorium ‘Dandakaranya’ has been constructed at a cost of around two crores and has facilities like interior decoration, lighting, sound system, air conditioning, stage, LED screen, and seating arrangement for 140 people. This auditorium will be used for various programs organized by the Forest Department, including seminars, workshops, field training, and training programs for joint forest management committee members.

The program was attended by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, MLA Guru Khushwant Singh, MLA Gajendra Yadav, and Union Forest Director General and Special Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar, among others.”
