Preparations in Full Swing: Over 5,000 Participants Registered to Race for Unity

Raipur, 16 February 2025/ Aiming to provide a dynamic platform for local talent, promote physical fitness, and showcase the breathtaking natural beauty of the region, the Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon 2025 is set to take place on March 2 in Narayanpur. With over 5,000 participants already registered, this marathon is more than just a race—it stands as a symbol of hope, unity, and the transformative power of sports to inspire change.

Abujhmad, known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, has long been overshadowed by the fear and instability caused by Naxal activities. This marathon seeks to reshape that narrative by offering a platform where people of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together in the spirit of unity, healthy competition, and mutual understanding.

The event will feature multiple race categories, including a Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km, ensuring inclusivity for athletes, first-time runners, and local participants alike. Equipped with state-of-the-art timing systems, experienced pacers, medical support, and hydration stations, the marathon guarantees a professional and enriching experience for all.

“This event is a symbol of resilience and hope. By bringing people together through the universal language of sports, we aim to not only promote physical fitness but also send a strong message of peace and unity. It’s time to show the world that Abujhmad is not defined by Maoism but by the potential of its people,” said Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

Pre-Event Highlights: Road to the Marathon

Leading up to the main event, the organizing committee has already conducted successful promotional marathons, setting the stage for an electrifying final race.
On January 5, a 5-kilometer promo marathon was held, where Tiju Pujari, Laxman Poyam, and Birsingh Salam emerged as the winners in the men’s category, while Somrai Gota, Reena Uike, and Bhumika Dewangan claimed top positions in the women’s category.
Following this, on January 19, a 10-kilometer mini marathon took place in Narayanpur, witnessing participation from over 800 runners. In the men’s category, Purkeshwar Lal Deshmukh, Rassu Kores, and Budhram Kumeti secured top ranks, while in the women’s category, Muskan Kushwaha, Bhumika Devangan, and Sombai Gota emerged as winners.

Facilities & Support

To ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, the marathon is designed with top-notch facilities: Participants will have access to dedicated lodging and parking facilities for convenience. Aid stations along the route will provide water, electrolyte drinks, energy snacks, glucose, salted biscuits, fruits, and ice to keep runners energized. First aid, resting tents, and recovery stations will be set up to ensure participants’ safety. A real-time tracking system will provide race updates, while LED indicators will mark the course for smooth navigation. Experienced pacers will guide runners in each category, helping them stay on track and achieve their targets.
